About Joe Following an award-winning career as a correspondent for The Canadian Press news agency, he began to hone his craft as a communicator in the corporate world. Joe was a key member of the senior management team with Weyerhaeuser Canada Ltd. during the construction of their $235-million paper mill in Prince Albert. He was the first employee hired by the commercial joint venture involving Cargill and CitiCorp. during construction and start up of their $435-million nitrogen fertilizer complex. Joe's career path continued to evolve when he began his consulting and freelance writing business 12 years ago. His track record of success is measured by the On Time, On Budget delivery of copy, products and services to clients – large and small -- in Canada and the United States. He writes for business magazines, trade publications and corporate newsletters. In 2005, he provided 52 contributions on agriculture and business for the Encyclopedia Saskatchewan. Joe has four, non-fiction books to his credit including Building Our Future: A People’s Architectural History of Saskatchewan, which was nominated for two book awards. His consulting business includes media training seminars as well as developing and implementing strategic communications plans for businesses, research projects and not-for-profit organizations. The plans range from coordinating the release of a four-year greenhouse gas study sponsored by the International Energy Agency to pitching media coverage of the World Cup of Standing Volleyball. Joe also provides real, practical advice for clients to prepare and implement a crisis communication plan. This includes how to deal with the media and key stakeholders during a tragedy at mine, mill, manufacturing facility or community inundated by a natural disaster such as a fire or flood.
